01 — Documentation online is too complex

Salesforce documentation and online forums such as Stack Exchange are too technical and makes it very difficult to understand or even identify what you’re reading even applies to your problem. You can end up getting frustrated after spending countless hours and still not getting the result you desire.

02 — Lack of quality online training and material

Although there are some good video tutorials out there, most dive too deep into the technicality of the AMPscript functions and do not focus on what is important. Sometimes the materials online just focus on the standalone functions itself, and do not teach or showcase how they are used with one another and how it is applied to real marketing use cases.

03 — Don’t have a technical background

Since you do not have any technical background, you may have more questions and take longer to grasp the understanding of certain concepts and functions that online material do not cover. Additionally, everyone has a different learning style and most times the online videos will skip a few steps and leave you confused as to why your code is not working.

04 — Work expectations and responsibilities

Most marketing manager or executive roles today expect some level of technical skills. Having maybe just done marketing or communications at university, this can be extremely challenging when asked to learn how to build dynamic and personalised emails or SMS campaigns in the platform itself.
